BROWN-SUGA
MON-FRI 1PM-3PM

From army specialist, proud veteran, technical support, and now music director and radio host, Brown Suga has been the voice of mid-days for the last 12 years on KZWA-104.9 FM.

A Lake Charles Native born on February 21st, under the sensitive, caring, sharing sign of Pisces the fish, Majoring in Mass Communication at Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, home of the Southern Jaguars, and upon returning to Lake Charles in 1998 after serving four years as an Administrative Specialist in the United States Army.  Brownsuga’s radio career begin in April of 1998 as a part-time office receptionist for KZWA, and customer service supervisor at a local retail store, becoming a radio host for KZWA-104.9 FM was a great accomplishment considering she had no experience in radio, but a passion and love for music and as God would have it her childhood role model Mrs. Blackwell is the Owner, and motivation, behind her success.

In 1999, Brownsuga decided to leave the retail industry all together, because it was at that time that she realized, that her other job was just that, a job, not a passion, KZWA on the other hand was a passion, and as she soon discovered her lifelong career, so she decided to pursue her passion and life-long dream by trying to learn every aspect of radio, the opportunity to host her on show became available when the midday slot became empty.

Inspired by her passion for her job, respect for her boss and love for people, Brownsuga gained as much on the job training as possible and saw the experience as an education, and more importantly, a once in a lifetime opportunity., which literally paid off.

Enjoying the joys of radio, she worked many years as a radio personality and music director with KZWA. Her hobbies include, radio, movies, computers and technology.  “I am so honored to be a part of the KZWA family and the Lake Charles community, I am so thankful that Mrs. Blackwell gave me the opportunity to discover and fulfill my dream in radio.  My major in college was Mass Communication, but I received my education in radio from Mrs. Faye B. Blackwell and KZWA-104.9 FM, Through Christ, all things are possible. You’ve got to believe it to receive it.”
